I maybe exaggerate the Swedish Halloween situation a liiittle though - parties do occur here too - just not to the same extent. They're more for kids. You generally don't trick-or-treat either. Everybody doesn't have candy ready - some are pretty anti the whole commerce thing when it comes to festivities like this.

Hell yeah. :D The times I have dressed up it's always been as that - exception being a very uncool pumpkin costume very briefly in second grade...

Hell yeah! And any kind of live instrumentation, anything live really... it FEELS alive. May be those small inconsistencies in rhythm and impact and all that give it that extra something. Listened to a beatmaker interview a while back where he spoke about intentionally trying to keep the beat slightly off sync to emulate that effect; make it more human... maybe that's just a part of the formula though.
